In this guide we show you how to view your CCTV cameras in Hikvision's Hik-Connect app. We will also show you how to view your camera in full screen mode, in HD and how to zoom in.

If you don't yet have the Hik-Connect app or a Hikvision account, please read our guide How to download the Hik-Connect app.

The guide below is for both Android and Apple users and tablets and smart phones.

Viewing your CCTV cameras on you Hikvision app is very simple:
  1. Open the HikConnect App
  2. Once the app is open you will see your Network Video Recorder (NVR) listed under My Devices tap the image of the recorder once.

How to make the view cameras in HD in the HikConnect App

By default the HikConnect app will display your cameras in Standard Definition (SD) this is intended to save bandwidth but it also means the picture lacks detail and the view disappointing.

To change the picture from Standard Definition (SD) to High Definition (HD) simply follow the steps below.
  1. When in live view, select the camera you wish to view in HD by taping it twice.
  2. From the menu bar at the bottom tap the icon (bottom left) which says 'Basic' or 'SD'.
  3. A menu will appear with the options 'Basic' and 'HD'. Select HD by tapping it once. The image will now display in HD.
  4. Repeat the process with each camera. Your preference will be saved and by default the cameras will open in HD (on that device).

How to zoom in on an image in the Hik-Connect app

Sometimes you may wish to zoom in on an image to see part of it in more detail. This does not actually cause the camera to zoom, it simply increases the size of the image, but may allow you to see the detail of something such as a number plate.
  1. To increase the image size, place two fingers close together on the screen then slowly pull the fingers apart until you have the desired level of zoom.
  2. To move the image when it is increased in size, press and hold a finger on the screen and drag the image to position.
  3. To decrease the size of the image place two fingers spaced apart and bring them together, if necessary remove your fingers and repeat the process.
