Please find below our most commonly asked questions regarding our intruder alarms.
Structured cabling services Maidenhead

We want to have an alarm installed, what are the next steps?

In the first instance please contact us. After an initial conversation to discuss your requirements and to gather some basic information about your property, we will be able give an approximate installation cost. If at this point you wish to proceed to an onsite quotation, we will visit to discuss specifics and carry out a risk assessment. These visits are free of charge and obligation free. We will then provide a quotation, if you wish to proceed at this time we will arrange a date for installation. Our lead time is normally between 2 to 3 weeks but sometimes we can get you in sooner.

Which areas do you cover?

Home Network Solutions installs Intruder Alarms in Maidenhead and surrounding areas, including West London. If you aren't sure if we cover your area, please do ask. For large installations, we will travel further if required.

Are wireless intruder alarms reliable?

Yes, our wireless alarms are super reliable, the devices have a range of up to 2000m and will notify of an intruder within 0.15 of a second. Our alarms conduct a check every 12 seconds to ensure that devices are connected and will notify if a device has failed to be seen within 3 attempts.

Can wireless intruder alarms be jammed?

Our alarm hubs can detect a jamming attempt and will move their signal range to prevent the system from being incapacitated. A notification of the naming attempt will also be sent via the cloud service.

How often do the batteries in the devices need changing?

Batteries on devices can last upto seven years, however with regular use this will be reduced. We would expect batteries to last around  3 years, however, as part of the annual service, we will change the batteries is all devices.

Do your alarms need annual service visits?

We strongly recommend annual service visits, but they are not a condition of the installation.

Do your intruder alarms have ongoing monthly costs?

Our intruder alarms do not have an ongoing cost. If you wish to have your alarm monitored or have a sim card back-up then monthly costs will apply.

I have an existing CCTV system can it be integrated with one of your alarms?

It is possible to integrate CCTV into our alarm system. We cannot guarantee this to work on systems we have not installed but we will certainly try. In some cases, we may need admin access to your system. Our alarms work with the following brands of CCTV systems Hikvision, EZVIZ, Safire, Uniview, Dhaka

Are our alarms simple to use?

Our alarms are very simple to use and have multiple options for control. You can use the free app, the keypad, a fob, a keycard or a keyring.

Will having an alarm reduce my home insurance?

It will depend on your insurer, but having a Burglar Alarm may reduce your insurance costs.

Who are you? Can we trust you?

Home Network Solutions Berkshire is a family-run business based in Maidenhead, Berkshire. We pride ourselves on our customer service, attention to detail and technical understanding. We install a range of technology for both domestic and commercial clients. To see our reviews on Google click here (or scroll to the bottom of the page) and you can see examples of our work on our Instagram account https://instagram.com/home.network.solutions

Will the installation of the alarm be messy or cause any damage?

As the system is wireless there are no messy cables to install, all we will need to do is fix the devices in place using a few screws, causing minimal disruption and mess. We always tidy up after ourselves and lay sheets to prevent floors and other areas from becoming dirty.

Will the alarm still work if there is a power cut or the internet stops working?

Our alarm hubs have an inbuilt battery, which can last up to 16 hours, and they will notify you of a mains power failure. If your internet service is interrupted then the SIM card backup will take over. If you have chosen not to have a SIM card then this service will not be available.

Will my pets set off my intruder alarm?

Animals up to 20 kg in weight should not set off your alarm. If you have a particularly large household pet, let us know during the risk assessment and we will plan the installation accordingly.

What's the difference between a security alarm, a burglar alarm and an intruder alarm?

An intruder alarm, a security alarm and a burglar alarm are different names for the same thing. In the security industry, most alarm companies refer to intruder alarms.

Can I set my intruder alarm from my Apple Watch?

Yes, it is possible to set your alarm using an Apple Watch. You can also receive notifications via the Apple Watch.

Do you offer a Police response service?

Unfortunately, we do not currently offer a Police response service.
