Wi-Fi site surveys

A WiFi site survey brings the ultimate piece of mind for those wanting a consistent and reliable Wi-Fi network throughout their home or business.

Business WiFi site surveys
As a business a WiFi site survey can ensure that your wireless network has the coverage and capacity to handle your requirements. Having a professional WiFi survey carried out will ensure that there are no black spots, or areas of weak signal. We will check frequencies, factor in interference and avoid cluttered channels. We use modern heat mapping software to give you a clear view of how your wireless network will operate.

Home WiFi site surveys
Wifi site surveys don't have to be limited to business, they can a very useful tool to ensure your home wireless network is up to the standard you require. WiFi site surveys can be especially useful for large properties or homes with thick walls and other obstructions. Completing a WiFI site survey will help use find the best locations for WiFi equipment such as Wireless Access Points and Mesh Systems.

Wi-Fi networks can even be designed before a building as been constructed, we provide a Wi-Fi planning service for planned or partly constructed sites. It's never too early as 'Phase one' WiFi plan can be completed from architects drawings.
WiFi Site Survey
Home Network Solutions Berkshire provide WiFi site surveys to business and homes in Maidenhead and the surrounding areas, including Reading, Slough, High Wycombe, Wokingham, Bracknell, Henley and more.

Equipment installations

There are various types of equipment that can be used to improve your WiFi, they vary in cost, effectiveness and reliability, but there isn't always a requirement to spend lots of money, sometime the simple solutions are the best. We keep right up to date with the latest technology and we know from experience which equipment to trust, follow us on Instagram and Facebook  for recommendations and handy advice. Below is a brief explanation of the types of equipment we install.

Wireless repeaters, Wireless Boosters and Wireless Extenders

WiFi extenders, WiFi Boosters and WiFi repeaters are the cheapest and most basic solution for wireless boosting and range extending, there are various types from Powerline, to one radio repeaters to more advanced multi-radio extenders. WiFi extenders, boosters and repeaters are normally the ideal solution if you are looking to boost the signal into one area rather than improving the overall network in your home.  Sometimes you will hear extenders, boosters and repeaters referred to by other names, such as internet extenders, internet signal boosters or WiFi range extenders. Why not check out our blog How to improve your WiFi coverage to learn more.

Mesh Systems

WiFi Mesh network systems comprise of a number of hubs (disks or towers) that are placed throughout your home or office. These hubs continually communicate to ensure that they are finding the best route for your wireless traffic. Mesh systems can cover a large area and are ideal for bigger homes or for homes covering a number of floors. Mesh WiFi  systems do not require cables to be run so they are perfect for cable free installations.  The limitation of Mesh systems is the fact that they use WiFi to communicate so they will struggle in environments with lots of thick walls.

For more information on Mesh Systems read our Mesh Systems Info Page.

Wireless Access Points (APs)

Wireless Access Points (AP) are the gold plated solution for achieving very fast, consistent, WiFi throughout your home or business. WiFi Access Points can deal with large volumes of traffic and multiple users without impacting performance. For office WiFi networks these are really the only the obvious solution, especially if you are expecting high numbers of users ( they are ideal for creating WiFi hotspots). In the home they are also excellent, but it is worth remembering that Wireless Accesses Points are fed by network cables and that they normally ceiling mounted so installations can be more complex than they would be for a Mesh WiFi network. We install Ubiquiti Unifi Wireless Access Points.

WiFi router upgrades

If your WiFi network is struggling, it may be that you need to upgrade your wireless router, most modern internet routers provided by your internet providers are mid to low range. If you are using high volumes of data or there are numerous users then you may want to upgrade. The new grade of WiFi (WiFi six) is even better at handling this kind of traffic Note that if you install other systems such as a Mesh or Wireless Access Points this will normally negate the need for a new internet router upgrade (unless your router is particularly old or has slow Ethernet ports).
