Ubiquiti Unifi- WiFi Access Points and Network Systems

At Home Network Solutions Berkshire, we specialise exclusively in professional WiFi installations using hard-wired Wireless Access Points (APs).

Unlike consumer boosters, repeaters, powerline adapters, or wireless mesh kits, Access Points deliver consistent, high-speed coverage across your property without performance drop-offs or interference. A Wireless Access Point is a device that connects directly to your network via Cat6 Ethernet cabling, broadcasting a strong and stable WiFi signal.

This is the same technology used in business environments, offices, airports, and hotels, designed for long-term reliability and seamless connectivity. Each Access Point is wired back to a central network switch, ensuring every area of your property benefits from a direct, uninterrupted connection — no wireless hopping or loss of speed. It’s the gold-standard approach to WiFi installation, and while it can involve a higher upfront cost than consumer alternatives, it provides unmatched performance, reliability, and longevity.

We also understand the importance of keeping your property looking its best. Our engineers take great care to deliver neat, discreet installations, concealing or minimising cabling for a clean, professional finish.

You can see examples of our work on our Instagram page.

All equipment we install is business-grade Ubiquiti UniFi hardware, built for stability, scalability, and professional-level performance.
Our goal is simple — to create a WiFi network so dependable you never have to think about it again. Once installed, your devices remain connected seamlessly, without dropouts or dead zones.

FAQs

What are the Benefits of Ubiquiti Access Point WiFi Systems?

At Home Network Solutions Berkshire, we install Ubiquiti UniFi Wireless Access Points (APs) – the same technology trusted by businesses, schools, and hospitality venues worldwide. These professional-grade systems deliver the fastest, most reliable, and most secure WiFi coverage available for both large homes and commercial environments.
  • Faster, More Consistent Speeds
Each Access Point connects directly via Cat6 Ethernet cabling, meaning there’s no loss of speed or signal quality. You’ll experience high-performance WiFi across your entire property, even with heavy simultaneous usage – perfect for data-intensive business operations or large connected homes.
  • Unmatched Reliability
Unlike mesh or booster systems, which rely on wireless links, Access Points provide a rock-solid connection to every area of your premises. They perform exceptionally well in challenging environments such as thick-walled buildings, metal-framed structures, and multi-floor properties, ensuring your WiFi remains stable and uninterrupted.
  • Centralised Management with UniFi
With Ubiquiti UniFi, your entire WiFi network is managed through a single central controller. This makes it easy to monitor performance, optimise coverage, and resolve issues quickly – giving you total control and long-term reliability.
  • Scalable and Designed for Larger Installations
Access Point networks are fully scalable and ideal for whole-property or multi-site installations. Whether you’re connecting a large residential property, office, hotel, or commercial estate, additional Access Points can be integrated seamlessly to provide complete, high-performance coverage. Our focus is on delivering professional, enterprise-grade WiFi systems designed for properties where reliability and capacity truly matter.

Are Wireless Access Points better than other WiFi solutions?

While options like mesh WiFi systems, boosters, and Powerline adapters may appear convenient, they are often limited in reliability, speed, and scalability. These consumer-grade systems can suffer from interference, bandwidth loss, and inconsistent performance — particularly in larger properties or busy business environments.

Wireless Access Points, by contrast, deliver enterprise-level connectivity that’s stable, fast, and built to last. Each Access Point is hardwired using Ethernet, ensuring a direct, high-capacity connection that maintains full speed and reliability across your network. This approach eliminates the weak spots and instability commonly found with mesh and booster setups.

For anyone seeking a truly dependable WiFi solution — whether across a large home, office, hotel, or commercial site — professionally installed Ubiquiti UniFi Access Points provide the ultimate combination of performance, scalability, and long-term reliability.

How do you install the Cat6 cables required?

We understand that our clients — particularly our domestic customers — prefer not to have visible cables running throughout their property. That’s why we take great care to ensure all cabling is either discreetly installed or completely hidden. In most cases, we run cables externally or through loft spaces where they remain out of sight. We also use conduit where additional protection is needed, while still keeping it as unobtrusive as possible. You can see examples of our neat installations on our Instagram page.

Do you install WiFi boosters without cables?

There are many brands and models of WiFi boosters and mesh systems that operate wirelessly, and in some circumstances they can work reasonably well. However, wireless systems have physical limitations. WiFi signals struggle to pass through solid walls, metal, mirrors, UV glass, and many other materials, and signal strength also decreases with distance—particularly on higher-frequency bands.

At Home Network Solutions Berkshire, we do not install any system that isn’t hard-wired using Cat6 or other Ethernet cabling. This is because we want your WiFi to perform as reliably and efficiently as possible. Introducing wireless links between devices increases the risk of interference and inconsistent performance.

The only exception to this rule is Point-to-Point links used to connect separate buildings. These are commercial-grade wireless bridges that require a clear line of sight and, when installed correctly, perform exceptionally well.

Do you install Ethernet cabling (Cat6) without equipment?

For commercial projects, we can provide Ethernet cabling as a standalone service, provided there are multiple connections or sufficient scope to justify the installation.

For domestic projects, we don’t offer Ethernet cabling as a standalone service. However, if we’re already carrying out another installation — such as WiFi, CCTV, or network equipment — we’re happy to include additional Ethernet runs at the same time, even if they’re for other purposes.

How much experience do you have with Ubiquiti products?

We have been installing Ubiquiti Products since 2018, we have grown our services with them as they have introduced new products and services. We have installed thousands of Ubiquiti Unifi Access Points and completed hundreds of Ubiquiti WiFi, CCTV and door entry projects. We are very confident on our understanding of the their products and we closely track their products, testing them internally before deployment. Generally we will install the latest products to ensure loggetivity and product support.

Do you install single room or garden office Ubiquiti solutions?

At Home Network Solutions Berkshire, our focus is on Whole Home WiFi systems designed to provide seamless coverage throughout your property. While we do offer services for garden rooms and home offices, these are typically carried out as part of a larger, whole-home installation rather than standalone projects. This ensures that your entire network is properly designed, integrated, and optimised for performance and reliability.

Do you install Fibre Optic cabling?

Yes, we offer professional installation of Fibre Optic cabling and have the specialist equipment required for precise splicing and termination. We typically install Multimode Fibre Optic cabling, capable of delivering up to 10Gbps speeds over distances of around 300–400 metres—ideal for high-performance internal networks and links between buildings.
Please note that we do not work on fibre cables installed by Internet Service Providers (ISPs). If you need your incoming provider fibre line moved, repaired, or re-terminated, you’ll need to contact your ISP directly.

Do you offer free quotations?

Yes, we offer free quotations. We usually begin by providing an initial estimated cost based on the information you share, and then arrange a site visit to confirm the details and ensure we’re all on the same page before proceeding.
Any information you can provide in advance — such as property plans, photos, or details of existing equipment — is always helpful and allows us to give you a more accurate estimate.

Can you use existing Ethernet cabling?

If you’re fortunate enough to already have Ethernet cabling installed, we’ll always aim to reuse it wherever possible. Before starting any installation, we’ll test your existing cables to ensure they’re serviceable and suitable for modern network requirements.

Please note that older cabling, such as Cat5, may limit achievable speeds, but can often still be used depending on the application. Phone cabling and aerial (coax) cabling are not suitable for networking, although in some cases, data-grade cabling previously used for phone systems can be repurposed.

Do you always install the cables?

Not always. On new build or refurbishment projects, it’s often more cost-effective or convenient for the main contractor or electrician to install the cabling. In these cases, we prefer to be involved early in the project so we can provide plans and detailed cable schedules specifying exactly what is required and where.
We will then return towards the end of the project to install the data cabinet, network hardware, and final equipment setup, ensuring everything is correctly terminated and tested.

What is the warranty on Ubiquiti Equipment?

Ubiquiti products come with a two-year manufacturer’s warranty as standard. For certain high-value products, we may recommend purchasing an extended five-year warranty for additional peace of mind.
In our experience, Ubiquiti equipment is extremely reliable. Over the past seven years of installations, less than 1% of the devices we’ve installed have required replacement — and in most cases, this was due to external factors such as unstable power or overheating, rather than a product fault.

Do Ubiquiti Products require maintenance?

Ubiquiti products can be configured to automatically update their firmware, ensuring your system stays up to date with the latest security enhancements and feature improvements. These updates are typically scheduled to occur at 3 a.m., when your network is unlikely to be in use.
For business networks or more complex installations covered by our maintenance contracts, we often prefer to manage updates manually. This allows us to monitor the process, confirm complete system stability, and ensure all devices continue to operate seamlessly after each upgrade.

Do Ubiquiti Products require a licence or ongoing cost?

In addition to being significantly more affordable than many of their competitors, Ubiquiti does not charge licensing fees, meaning your equipment is fully owned by you without the burden of expensive ongoing costs.

Furthermore,
Ubiquiti is constantly innovating its software and products to ensure they meet the demands of the real world. Updates are free and can be applied at a time of your choosing or set to update automatically.

Do you offer Ubiquiti take over services?

Yes, we do offer takeover services — typically for business customers or clients looking to join our ongoing maintenance programme. Before taking over a system, we carry out a comprehensive health check to assess the setup and ensure that all equipment and cabling have been installed to a high standard.
While we can’t provide warranties on equipment we haven’t supplied or installed, once we’ve completed our checks, we’ll advise on any improvements needed to bring the system up to full reliability and performance.

Do you offer troubleshooting services?

We don’t offer troubleshooting as a standalone service, but it is included as part of our maintenance and support packages. These packages allow us to provide a more thorough and efficient service, as we’ll already be familiar with your network setup and equipment.

For new clients interested in ongoing support, we can carry out an initial system assessment to review your existing setup and recommend the most suitable maintenance plan. This ensures we can deliver reliable, long-term solutions rather than one-off fixes.
