Do I need a UniFi Console to use UniFi Talk?
Yes. UniFi Talk requires a UniFi Network Console (such as a Dream Machine Pro, UDM-SE, or Cloud Key Gen2+) to host and manage the Talk application. This makes it best suited for customers who already use, or plan to use, the Ubiquiti UniFi ecosystem. If you’re unsure whether your current setup supports UniFi Talk, we can advise before installation.
Do you only install UniFi Talk with specific VoIP services?
Yes. We only install Ubiquiti UniFi Talk systems using either Ubiquiti’s own UniFi Talk service or our approved UK partner provider. This ensures the phones are correctly configured, fully supported, and deliver the reliability and call quality expected from a professional system. We are unable to install or support UniFi Talk hardware running on third-party VoIP services.
Can I use UniFi Talk without connecting external phone lines?
Yes. Some customers choose to use UniFi Talk phones purely as intercom receivers, for example to answer calls from UniFi Access intercoms or gate entry systems. This is a great option if you want a tidy, wall-mounted interface inside your home or office without needing a full phone service.
Can I expand my UniFi Talk system later?
Absolutely. UniFi Talk is fully scalable, so you can start with a single handset and add more phones or sites as your business grows. Additional devices can easily be added to the same controller.
Do you offer VoIP for home users as well as businesses?
Yes. While UniFi Talk is designed for business use, it’s also ideal for home offices or properties with gates and intercoms where professional call handling or remote answering is required.
Is UniFi Talk secure?
Yes. UniFi Talk runs within the secure UniFi ecosystem, using encrypted connections and network-level security to protect your communications.
